It was followed by Doom II in 1994, and a retail fan-made expansion to Doom II titled Final Doom. However, the series lay fallow in the new generation…until the announcement of Doom 3.

■ 21/07/06 - Doom 3 Souvenez-vous, il y a de cela 10 ans un jeu entrait dans la légende du monde du jeu vidéo. Doom fût une révolution technique dans le monde de la 3D mais également un jeu novateur et bourrin à souhait qui su trouver son public. Puis sortit sa suite, Doom 2, suivie de Final Doom et depuis plus rien. C’est seulement 10 ans après qu’Id software décide de nous sortir la suite de cette série avec Doom 3, dix ans de longues et difficiles attentes mais que vaut réellement le résultat final ? When a high profile game is announced, interest builds and the gaming community saturates itself with images and titbits of information in anticipation of the next big thing. Some folks automatically bite back and declare that game X will inevitably suck, presuming that if they happen to be right they can claim some sort of personal victory over the sheepish masses.
